At Oakville Dental Care, we recognize the extraordinary circumstances regarding the growing concerns around CoronaVirus (COVID-19). We too, are deeply concerned for the health and well-being of the public and our team.
As health providers, we play a critical role in reducing the spread of COVID-19 in our community. After careful consideration and at the recommendation of the American Dental Association (ADA), we at Oakville Dental Care have made the impossibly difficult decision to voluntarily suspend all non-emergency care for two weeks (projected return April 6, 2020.)
During this period of closure, if you or your child has a dental emergency, we encourage you to contact us at 314-487-0333 and one of our team members will be on call to answer your concerns. We will first triage over the phone to determine if it is a situation where you or your child need to be seen IN the office or if we can address the problem remotely. It is our stance that in the event of a dental emergency that requires IN-PERSON treatment, it is better to be seen in our much more contained and controlled environment. This course of action will help limit possible exposure to you in the Emergency Department at our local hospitals. Emergency Departments may be struggling to keep up with demands.
We will be contacting all scheduled patients in the upcoming days to reschedule appointments. Please be patient with us as we reschedule you. We are proud of our great patients and strong, committed team. As you may be aware, we book out many months ahead with our hygiene schedule these days, so we will be adding extra hours and working even harder for you once we’re back full time. We appreciate each and every one of you – and want to make sure we dedicate the proper time to keep you healthy just as we always have.
Even when returning to a more normal schedule, there are additional precautions that we already have in place to ensure the safety of our patients and team. As we have been doing for the last few weeks, all visitors will be screened at the door for a specific list of common symptoms associated with COVID-19: including additional questions being asked at check-in of all guests, not just patients – but everyone who enters our office. We will also be ensuring that everyone who enters the building uses hand sanitizer and/or washes hands immediately upon entry. Patients will be given a special mouth rinse to use prior to any procedure. These added precautions may be in place for an extended period of time.
We continue to monitor the guidelines issued by the American Dental Association (ADA), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), as well as federal and state governments to ensure that we are abiding by the most up-to-date guidelines and recommendations.
This is an unprecedented time for our community and dental office. The situation is ever-changing and your continued flexibility and loyalty are greatly appreciated. From our entire team, we want to thank you for your support and understanding as we navigate through uncharted territory. It is our honor and privilege to be trusted with your dental needs and friendship. We look forward to seeing you very soon!
